June 10th, 2022. I was on holiday at Fort Pickens National Sea Shore when the dead bolt lock on my factory NuCamp TAB literally “fell out of the door.” Now, this was most likely my fault for slamming them door, which is what usually causes this to happen. But unfortunately, I wasn’t able to lock my camper door from the inside for the rest of the trip. The latch lock still worked and I could lock it from the outside when I left camp. But, there was nothing from stopping an intruder from getting into the camper while I slept at night should one feel so inclined. Now, I’m a 6’2″, 240lb man with a CCW permit. So I was not too worried about someone trying to get into a small camper with me. But, had it been my wife solo camping and not me, this issue poses a more serious risk for obvious reasons. It’s easy to change the code to your 4 digit code of choice. Keep in mind, there is no 9 or 0 on this keypad. Only 1 through 8. This video is for demonstration purposes only, and the keycode that I set up was changed to my secret key code after this video was made.
Is the RV Lock V4 Worth It?
While the price tag on the RV Lock V4 is a little high for some at $239, it’s a great product, easy to install and works great as a keyless entry latch. The latch holds tight on the door. There is no wobble or fitment issues at all. One point worth noting, is that the door latch hole on the door of my 2018 Nucamp Tab appears to have been cut by hand. This means that when it comes the the hole on the door for the latch, no two campers will be exactly alike. This is not a huge problem though, since the RV Lock and the original equipment lock share the exact same bolt pattern and footprint.
The RV Lock V4 Keyless Entry is a fantastic upgrade to my 2018 NuCamp TAB 320 S.
